The ignition flip on your 1984 Ford pickup is relatively easy to replace. The interchange is affixed along the steering newspaper column, and you can acquire access to it by lowering the column. Removal
Step 1

Lift the switch upward from the steering column to disengage the alternate from the actuator rod and remove the switch from the guidance column.
Installation
Step 1
Locate the metal pin installed on a small hole out direct the side of the current ignition switch. This pin secures the switch in the "Lock" position for installation.

Engage the untried turn on the actuator rod on the steering tower.
Step 3
Hump the switch's two retaining barmy finger-tight, using the rachet extension and socket, but do not tighten the nuts yet.
Step 4
Move the switch raised and down, and notice the throw's amount of free travel on the actuator rod. Now position the switch over so that there is the same number of free play in both directions.
Step 5
Constrain the switch retaining nuts, using the ratchet, ratchet propagation and socket.
Step 6
Transfer the metallic element pin that secures the switch in the "Lock" position, victimisation a pair of poke pliers.
